WE ARE ALREADY THINKING ABOUT 2009 FREE FAIR AND ARE ALREADY TAKING SUGGESTIONS UNDER CONSIDERATION.
THE GREAT PING PONG BALL AVALANCH WAS A HUGE SUCCESS AND WE ARE THINKING OF WAYS TO IMPROVE IT
...DOLLARS IN THE STRAW AND KIDDIE CAR RACES HAVE BEEN A SUCCESS FOR A COUPLE YEAR.

We have a SKATEBOARD PARK on the east side of CANNON PARK, and we are planning skateboarding events at that facility. We had a very successful Skate Boarding contest in 2008 and Chad is planning an even better event this year.

Cannon Park Midway includes Carnival, Rides, Free Entertainment, Games, and Food. Featuring the Randy Withers Lions Club Bar B Ques and Gift Bingo.
A feature planned for the 2009 Free Fair is the GREAT PING PONG BALL AVALANCH. Hundreds of Ping Pong balls will be dropped from atop CARTERVILLE'S FIRE DEPARTMENT 62 foot LADDER TRUCK LADDER. Many of the ping pong balls will have prizes associated with them. More details on this as this event unfolds. Imagine hundreds of ping pong balls coming out of the sky and bouncing on the parking lot and kids running around to retrieve them!! Many kudos to the Carterville Fire Dept for helping make the Free Fair a success!!
LITTLE MR & MISS CARTERVILLE contest as well as the QUEEN TALENT SHOW and it is going to be back in the gymnasium at John A Logan college and on Thurs evening Sept 10, 2008 starting at 7 am for the kiddies and 8 pm for the Queen Talent Revue. There is a Junior Miss Carterville Pageant. Contact Khrissy Hollister about this event.

GIFT BINGO Fri evening & Saturday all day. Scores of prizes to be given away, , prizes donated by local merchants. New location....Civic Center!!!
COUNTRY NIGHT.....Fri. starting at 7 TIL 11 pm...Featuring GET SERIOUS BAND doing good old time Gospel Music for an hour and then going into good old Country music FREE...Bring dancin shoes and lawn chairs...
CO-ED KING OF THE BEACH VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT....check in at 9 AM, tourney starts at 10 AM. for info call Tom Wallace @

KIDDIE CAR RACE.....2 PM Sat.....Ages 1-6....Bring your own battery operated riding car, truck, 4 wheelers, ect....Trophies...FREE....all entries get a prize. NEW and improved
JOHN FROSTS' KARAOKE SHOW...2-3M Sat....limited to 10 participants....FREE...Show up to enter...Trophies awarded.
WASHER PITCHIN singles then doubles tourney...12:00 PM Sat....$5. entry fee per person...Trophies awarded.........Money prizes...Bring your partner....info..618-985-4964.
HORSESHOE PITCHIN starting Sat AM at 12:30pm with singles tourney then a doubles tourney. Registration at noon $5.00 per person per tourney. Trophies awarded plus 50% of take given back.

BOOTH RENTAL call 618-985-2252 or pick up forms @ City Hall downtown Carterville. Booths available to civic and nfp organizations until Aug 20, 2008, then it will be open to others. If you are not able to pick up the contract through the week, it may be picked up on Sat. at CAS Thrift Store 115 S. Division St. Carterville, on Saturdays as an alternative place to pick it up.
